LynnNChicago Don’t Be Tardy For The Wedding
Do they really want us to believe that Kim Zolciak got a call while in the make up chair informing her that her florist backed out and she sat calmly and thanked the caller for letting her know. No dramatics, no freaking out, no Kim behavior? Come on! One of two things are true, either it was scripted and the florist is perfectly fine or she knew in advance and they had already resolved the problem.
Tonight’s drama is Kim’s maid of honor, Jen not being around for Kim. I don’t know if the woman ends up being in the wedding or not but the drama is a bit over the top. Does Jen really need to sit and watch Kim get her body painted? There has to be more to the story. At the beginning of the season Kim told us that her friend of 12-years will be her maid of honor but we haven’t seen her because she doesn’t like the spotlight. We haven’t heard 
Jen’s side of the story and likely we never will. When Kroy went to talk with her, he wouldn’t let her get a word in so no explanation was allowed on air anyway.
Let’s assume for just a minute that Jen has a life, a family and possibly another friend or two, how about a job? Kim and Kroy seem to think that Jen should be there every day asking Kim what she can do for her. Could this just be another made up storyline to create drama?
Tonight included Kim’s wedding shower thrown by her friends, her mom is in attendance and even the folks from Montana. I have to assume that this party took place during those two weeks that Kroy’s parents and sister were in Atlanta several weeks before the wedding. There is no way that they flew in just for the shower. Bravo is still playing with timelines.
The best part of Kim’s shower was that Kandi Burress was there! Love her! I was a bit 
surprised that Kim didn’t have Kandi in her bridal party yet Sheree was chosen. I would have thought Kandi would be chosen for sure, these two ladies had been very close, tonight Kim says that she regrets not asking Kandi to be a bridesmaid. Kandi will be singing at the wedding reception.
Sheree was absent from the shower, Kim tells us that she was ill so Kim confides in Kandi about her maid of honor issues. Kandi isn’t very helpful, rather than saying “don’t worry about it, it’ll be ok” instead Kandi adds some fuel to the fire and manages to agitate Kim even more. Kandi’s gift of a “Bedroom Kandi” product should do the trick in calming Kim down later.
The Groomsmen are all from Montana (no football buddies?) so they flew in with only a few days to spare until the wedding. With no time for an official bachelor party, the entire group goes go-karting.
Little KJ is A-Dorable, we see him twice tonight. The usual opening of Kim confiding in her 
son that she’s stressed about the wedding, he is so damn cute! Later we see Kim’s Daughters Ariana and Brielle playing with little KJ, the child clearly loves Ariana and but when it comes to Brielle it seems he can take her or leave her. lol
With a mere hours before the wedding, next week Kim rips the wig off and we will see her real hair. Chances are pretty good, knowing Bravo, we will see the wig land on the chair at the very end of the show and will have to wait until the following week to see her real hair.

Kathy
I think Kathy should really send weekly checks to Alexis Bellino, she makes fun of her every week but in Kathy’s defense, Alexis gives her material every week. Costa Rica is actually NOT in Mexico, Alexis but you’ll learn that when they stamp your passport, it’s not important.
Kathy had three really good civilians on with her this week, an old friend of hers who was clearly a comedian, hysterically funny and unlike a few of the past guests, he wasn’t trying too hard, he was very easy and likable on the couch. Kathy’s niece joined her as well, we saw her as a much younger girl on Kathy’s “My Life On The D List” and it was fun to see her a bit more grown up, she’s got a great sense of humor. Finally a young man who isn’t afraid to speak his mind and is able to go toe to toe with Kathy, a must if you’re going to sit on that couch!
The group discussed Reality TV including The Kardashians, which premiered this week, “where is Bruce Jenner’s eyebrows?” Kathy wanted to know. We’d all like to know that but that’s another show. Scott and his baby mamma Kardashian haven’t had sex since he impregnated her and that’s a little too much information but Kathy made it funny!
Celebrity fragrances – everyone has one, big money makers for the celebs and there is even an award show for this crap, did you guys know that? I didn’t know that. Kathy threw out a few ideas for her own scent, my favorite, “Oprah by Kathy Griffin” that one 
made me chuckle!
Kathy brought on three brides who were about to take the plunge in just three days, she questioned them and found none of them had wedding planners. (in the real world, we do these things ourselves!)
My favorite part of each show has to be Kathy’s mom, I don’t care if she’s not politically correct, “Mexicans love soccer” she is real and amazingly sharp for 90-years old. Tonight they asked her if Mexicans love soccer more than Canadians love hockey and Kathy was mortified when she repeated, “It’s true, Mexicans love soccer”. Hysterical!
If you haven’t seen Kathy yet, give it a shot. Unlike Housewives, it will put a smile on your face and likely you’ll even giggle a bit, I think you’ll like it!

Duets-Week 1: Two Times the Fun by NgloriusBasterd
I’m usually hesitant about reality shows pertaining to music, singers, stars, etc., because the competition always boils down to an outrageous spectacle that becomes everything but what it’s supposed to be: the voice, the performer, the music. For those of you who have not yet seen #DUETS it makes sense to question the show; why watch it when we have American Idol, X Factor, and The Voice? I’ll tell you why. It’s rare and almost non-existent to see superstars proactively partake so intimately in a show like #DUETS where the judges/superstars like Robin Thicke, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Jennifer Nettles respect upcoming and young artists in a genuine and even more importantly, intimate manner. Usually the world watches these shows where people from different cities are just numbers rounded up and waiting to be chosen. However, on this show, the superstars are vested in whom they choose, because not only are they judging the talent, they are singing along side them too. The stakes are much greater: if the talent is not up to par, the Stars are in bad shape being that the contestants are a direct reflection of them. We aren’t just watching a star judge because of who they are or how much money they make. We are watching successful stars actively working towards creating definitive artists through not only judging, but singing with them every week as well. This is the special element I love that places #DUETS above the rest…
The show begins with a first round where Jennifer Nettles kicks off the night searching for talent and decides to choose a young fellow named J Rome. Initially, I wasn’t impressed with his audition; the tone of his voice was bouncy, his pitch was off, and he had that “on the verge type of yodeling” sound that rarely works. These characteristics equate to a formula that steers the viewers away. Yet, once it was show time, and he took the stage with Jennifer Nettles, it was a different J Rome than the previous version I saw. He came out polished, confident and on key with his notes. He was graceful and soulful with his performance, which is why he earned the number one spot; even more noteworthy was that he kept that spot. I don’t agree with this, but I’ll explain later…
John Legend came next and unexpectedly introduced the candidate he chose, Johnny Gray, to America. I wasn’t too thrilled with this choice as it seemed too much of an opportunity of a lifetime for Johnny Gray who appeared uneasy, scared, and not ready for something as grandiose as this. Yes, it’s first week so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, but as of right now I’m screaming “surprise me” and thinking “I want more…so much more.” Don’t get it twisted; Johnny was a good performer, but he sounded too much like John Legend singing “Ordinary People,” which is a song I love. In the upcoming weeks I expect to hear more of HIM and HIS personal voice. His biography states he can handle any range from Reba McEntire to Brian McKnight, but I have yet to see it…and I want to.
My other favorite artist Robin Thicke who does have a phenomenal range proceeded next deciding to go with a Sade look alike namedOlivia Chisholm. I tweeted her earlier “You remind me so much of Sade and I’m in love with Sade…so that makes me in love with you.” I meant it. She is beautiful in every way, and has the ability to sing where her voice makes you melt. Together they sang “Lost Without You” a sultry and sexy ballad that fit the pair perfectly. Out of the first round, those two had the best chemistry, but to make it in this competition, Olivia cannot rely solely on her beautiful looks. If this was a beauty contest, there’s no doubt about it that Olivia would’ve won hands down. Instead, she needs to show the world there’s more inside vocally, and exhibit a greater confidence to keep our attention.
Finishing up the first round was Kelly Clarkson and the shockingly chosen Jason Farol. I 
was confused at this decision, because the girl that performed previously to Jason Farol was ten times better. Her vocals were strides ahead of Jason. I’m absolutely sure Kelly Clarkson did not choose her, because she actually sounded better than her. There can only be one original American Idol and let’s not mince words …it’s Kelly Clarkson. I do give her credit for giving back what the world gave her, because she will forever hold the legacy of being the very first American Idol. Yet her choice of Jason Farol failed to impress me in any way, shape or form. I’m hoping these two will bring more to the table in the upcoming weeks or else they can be excused.
Round two of #DUETS definitely provided me with a wake up call establishing a trajectory of positive things. The performers in the second half were more upbeat, entered the competition with anticipation, and had much better chemistry with the stars than the previous contestants. John Legend brought forth Bridget Carrington who had a stage presence about her that was likeable and a voice to back it up! Together the two sang John Legend’s latest single from the hit film Think Like A Man entitled “Tonight”….Tonight was her night and she owned it! Bridget was by far my favorite when considering the entire package: vocally, performance wise, stage presence, and compatibility with the star. I can’t wait to see more of Bridget in this season of #DUETS! I agree with her when she referenced her line of employment by saying “there will be a position that needs to be filled,” because she is definitely paving her way to stardom.
Jennifer Nettles traveled to her hometown to find her next singing partner, and I was shocked to see the 4-H clover logo, because I was involved with this organization when I was younger. This scene made me laugh, because yes I had a pig that I raised and sold….enough said. Apparently, Jennifer Nettles and I have this in common because she was also an integral part of the organization as she received an honor for it. From the same place she grew up in, she chose John Glosson who like J Rome sounded shaky during his audition, but ignited the stage when he sang “Stay” with Jennifer Nettles. Like John Legend and Bridget Carrington, John Glosson and Jennifer Nettles had excellent chemistry together and really created something special between them that the audience related to and understood.
Robin Thicke had trouble finding his second partner and placed great thought into who would be the one to sing with him. Alexis Fosterwas the blessed one, and I’m glad she was chosen. As I watched her audition tape, I immediately saw a young woman with charisma, who was angelic like, and sang with a purpose: to win. Singing Robin Thicke’s hit song “Magic” off of his sophomore album, it was fun watching those two really work off one another vocally. The only critique I have for their performance was the moments when their chemistry was broken, because they were simply standing in place and not really moving with or around one another. I kept wanting for them to do just a two-step or something….never happened. The lack of using the stage and maybe throwing in a tiny dance routine was missing and it showed. Yes this is a vocal competition, but performing to the song instead of just singing is a factor that also needs to be tended to.
Ending the night with Kelly Clarkson and her chosen partner Jordan Merideth was the correct way to go. This Pink Punky-Brewster, rock like chick, hailing from Wisconsin brings it to the stage with her raw vocal talent. I agreed with the Judges/Stars when they “couldn’t tell the difference between her [Jordan] and Kelly Clarkson.” That must’ve been the best compliment for Jordan…the best compliment of the night period. Both sang Kelly Clarkson’s hit “Stronger” and Jordan Merideth is not messing around. Unfortunately, it appears the judges/stars are because her score did not properly reflect her performance as she landed in the #7 spot just one step above the very bottom #8 slot! Boo!
The main critique I have when it comes to #DUETS that extremely bothers me is the “judging” aspect in its entirety. The audience only sees the Judges/Stars enter whatever it is they are entering on an Ipad with the #DUETS logo. That’s it. We do not know or understand the criteria for how they are judging, but instead are left with eight slots waiting to be filled with each contestant. No one is able to vote through the internet or by phone. This is frustrating, because when J Rome is at the number one spot the entire show and Jordan Merideth ends up at the damn near bottom, we have a problem. The other issue is the actual critiques from the judges, who seem to “love” or “like” everything. I rarely heard any constructive criticism tonight…this has to change. I guess verbally the judges were too nice, because when it came to scoring, we were lost in translation.
Overall, #DUETS proves to be a promising show that will continue its momentum and most likely gain more throughout the season. The first round demonstrated to be the “lookers” of the season who can possibly surprise us all with a voice that we have not seen yet, but are anxiously waiting to hear. The second round of contestants are the actual singers who have a better grasp on how to market themselves and understand how to compete in a setting such as this one. Nevertheless, the talent chosen to compete in #DUETS deserve to be there with the exception of Jason Farol. When it comes down to judging this is my line up:
1. Bridget Carrington
2. J Rome
3. Alexis Foster
4. Olivia Chisholm
5. Jordan Merideth
6. John Glosson
7. Johnny Gray
8. Jason Farol
As of right now, this is the exact order. I’m excited to see how and if it changes…only time will tell. Aside from the judging part, the show was a hit. I appreciate the fact that the Judges/Stars are not catty among one another, and focus all energy and efforts towards their singing partners. I just hope the musical aspect of the show doesn’t get lost or contrived, because when competition is up, it’s easy for this to happen. As long as everyone remembers the ultimate goal: to perform the hell out of their songs, #DUETS can be the beginning of a solid positive experience for both the star and the contestant to see on National Television.

Which diva will get the most guests?? We’ll seEeEeEeeee… but our money is on the Countess!!!
I don’t know if having the most guests is going to be the deciding factor of popularity here, have you ever heard, quality not quantity? I think it’s going to be about getting the right people at your party for Ramona and Lulu. Luckily for Andy Cohen, he has to host WWHL that night and can beg off both bashes, or maybe he’ll try to make an appearance at both before shooting his show at 11pm.
I’ll be curious to see if any of the ex-New York housewives are invited to either of these parties. We know that if any of them are invited, they will absolutely be there. All of them need the publicity as they’re all sinking fast! (see bottom of this blog)

Just as suspected, all of the media outlets are now back peddling after reporting what that Jason and Bethenny were getting divorced. Star magazine reported and RadarOnLine picked up the bullshit story. Here’s what NYDailyNews had to say…
Don’t believe everything — or most of what — you see on reality TV.
Despite rumors that Bethenny Frankel and husband Jason Hoppy are nearing the end of a rocky marriage, the reports simply aren’t true.
“They are together and all is good,” a source tells the Daily News.
Frankel, 41, has been married to the real estate businessman for two years and the couple have a daughter, Bryn, together.
RadarOnline.com originally reported that a divorce was “imminent” for the pair, and even have a prenup in place for whenever that day comes.
“Bethenny wasn’t going to get married without a prenup, to protect both herself and Jason,” a source told the site. “Bethenny has watched plenty of her friends over the years get divorced and has always vowed to never end up dependent on a man for financial stability or security.
“The prenup clearly outlines that ALL of Bethenny’s business deals, endorsements, Skinnygirl, are hers, period.”
The former “Real Housewives of New York” star was recently spotted out on the town 
with her business partner, Matt Hesse, sparking rumors that she has been seeing him in private.
But Frankel’s pal tells the Huffington Post that this is definitely not the case either.
“This is not Bethenny’s style,” the source said. “If she wanted to leave Jason for Matt, she would do it. She is not the sort of girl to sneak about behind anyone’s back.
“She is honest to a fault and has no problem saying exactly what she wants, including when it comes to her marriage.”

A good friend of the blog has done a critique of the show for us – she was really REALLY annoyed with Mark Consuelos as apparently he interrupted Andy several times just as Andy was going to spill some really good Housewives dirt. ~Audience member asked if he had been embarrassed by Jerry Seinfeld asking his to sit up straight and close his legs..he sounded upset. Asked the audience member what she thought and she said, “it was rude..it’s your show.” It was a genuinely uncomfortable moment.

EXCLUSIVE Real Housewives of DC
None of the big media outlets have picked up on it yet, you all are the first to know! The five, (yes all five) DC Housewives have been spotted around town together with Bravo cameramen following them.
We saw four of the ladies together at Andy’s Book signing in DC, Cat, Mary and Lynda have kept in touch and been friendly since the show ended but Staci joined the ladies to support Andy, that was our first clue. They’re keeping Michaele Salahi under wraps as it would give it away for sure!
I’m told assuming that it won’t be the usual season two of a Housewives show as all five 
ladies are no longer married, more of a unique show about single ladies and catching up with the ladies. All of them appeared to be happily married (taken in Lynda’s case) when the show premiered and Cat was the first to divorce before the season even finished airing. More recently Rich and Mary Amons announced their divorce and it was just a few months before that we heard the news of Staci’s divorce from Jason. Michaele and Tareq Salahi’s separation and divorce was big news as she ran away with Journey band member Neil Schoen. Lynda and Ebong who weren’t married and weren’t even living together have not made any formal announcement as of yet but word is they’ve split as well.
The show could be just a few episodes initially to see how well it does but could turn into a regular series if ratings are good. I can’t wait to see what the ladies have been up to since the series ended. I understand Cat has some really big news!
On a personal note, I met all of the DC Housewives just a year ago in New York. (With the exception of Michaele who was not invited to Cat’s Book launch.) A nicer group of people you will not find anywhere. Down to earth and sweet, Lynda and Mary were very open and I spoke with them both at length. Cat of course invited me and was so attentive even while being the guest of honor she took me around and introduced me to so many people! I hope they bring back everyone’s favorite stylist, Paul Wharton too, I met him as well he is a great guy!

Me too!! I was/am still so astounded that Mary and Rich are divorcing after 26 yrs of marriage. They had the most beautiful home I’ve ever seen of ANY of the housewives. And seemed so perfect for each other.
I actually preferred Miami as they had kookier characters and some ulcer inducing villains. I felt the DC housewives were more stoic and of course Cat was the most annoying Brit ever! If they come back I hope someone takes her to task without her melting like the evil witch under a bucket of water.
I loved DC. I was seriously bummed that they cancelled it.
I agree LOVE seeing J~Z~ sh*t on sale for $4.00….Can’t get rich at those prices.
FYI I know I mentioned going into the Dr a few days ago. Who knew a flu bug could become a stomach infection. Oh Geesh, but I’m getting better.

I liked D.C. too. I hope BRAVO does a follow-up with these women. I watched Miami too, and it was o.k.. Mama Elsa was the best part of the show, IMO. Because she will be back, I’ll give Miami another look-see when it returns.

With Dallas, Miami, and now Dc might be coming back. I think Bravo is saturating the market with the housewives series. The should retire some of the earlier ones, like OC. It is getting too crowded on Bravo. Now these same hw’s getting spin offs. I don’t want to hate, but jeez…what happened to creativity. Can’t they think of brand new concepts instead of remixing the same shows……80 plates and top chef…..it’s like the survivor addition of Top chef.

I remember like it was yesterday all gathered around the TV when Kelly Clarkson won. I was on vacation in Lavalady’s town (Jersey Shore). I didn’t even finish watching the replay of this year’s show, but I heard Chaka Khan looked horrendous. Why oh why must mature women insist on dressing that way…on a positive note Idol has truly introduced great talent. The Carrie Underwood/Vince Gill performance below is a huge hit on youtube.

Some of the top idols didn’t even win… can’t wait to pick up Adam Lambert’s new cd. Quite a few have deservedly done very well for themselves. Last four years seems like they won because they’re “cute.” Don’t like the voting system… but luckily like I mentioned they don’t have to win to benefit from it.
I just received Adam’s CD. The song he sang on Idol is my favorite so far on it. His first CD was fantastic.
I’ve always felt they needed to limit the voting, but that will never happen cos Ryan has to say there were 1,000,000 votes that came in! A girl hasn’t won since Jordin Sparks. But like you said, sometimes the non-winners do better: Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Katherine McFee.
Yeah, I will always think Tamyra Gray is the best idol contestant ever, she should have done alot better. Apparently sheis married to one of the guys in the group “color me badd” and has a baby by him. That season there was so much talent in the line up there were about 4 or 5 women that could have taken the title.
I think that Chaka wants to compete with the children using auto tune and dressed for the slipper pole. She should just sing because she still has a voice like no other. She is 59 years old.
Chaka Kahn & Neil Diamond (who I love) need to hang up the microphone! I remember the first few seasons,when the contestants were the ones that mattered. Not Jlo lip synching to her music. When it was the contestants up on stage, not a choir along with them. If these judges come back, I am done with this show.
That song gives me chills just seeing the youtube. I heard it when they did it for the show. I’m a big Vince Gill fan, well all of country is my favorite music. BUT I love me some Katy Perry, Rihanna, Usher and Lady Gaga too.

So because Andrea Cohen likes someones husband, that means the evil wife is coming back for another season. I do not think that there was ever any doubt that Melissa would be coming back to the show next season. The Bravo station has become like a Cub Scout Jamboree, complete with the devaluation of the women/girl power. The show is suppose to be about the wives not their freaky starstruck husbands. IMO. Not to mention but Little Angel Boots Joey is insane. If the viewer looks into his eyes, there is something truly wrong with this man. I think that Ms. Cohen is drawn to flawed characters because they make him feel better about himself. Just keeping it real.
I’m tired of the husbands myself. Richie and Joey tweeting Wendy Williams and asking her to have them on as guests is a sign that their egos allow them to believe that they are stars/full-time cast members of RHONJ. Hope everyone will remember that RadarOnline is the most incorrect internet spot out there, they are owned by the folks that own Star magazine, so all of the untruthful and salacious stories in Star are always posted at RadarOnline. Both places pay for information, which means that their source is not in someone’s inner circle, so most likely the story is highly fabricated if not completely untrue. B’s mother is really a piece of work, B is lucky to have turned out half as good as she did with that wretch of a human being.
I always read Radar Online because they seem to have the scoop on things first but now I see that they are biased. It irritates me that once Radar reports something, a lot of the blogs will pick up the story as fact – ugh!!! I’m happy that the Bethenny/Jason rumor seems to be false. I was also annoyed with all the negative Brandi news.

Sparkle, I think Mary and Rich are divorcing because they grew apart. From what I read they were married very young, according to her they got pregnant 2 months after they met and were married at 19(mary) and 21(rich). While it’s sad to see that happen to a couple who have been together a lot of years, I know from watching this happen to other friends of our family, some stay until they think the kids are ready to handle it, while it may have been in the making for quite some time. Could be a mid-life crisis for one or both of them, who knows.
Too bad. Man of my son’s friends parents are divorcing. Waiting until the last kid graduated from HS. Interesting way to live.

Can you find out the actual number of bought followers, or how many “fake” non-realhuman followers an account has??? Oh and the recent tweets are getting more delusional by the minute.

OMG How did I miss Art Smith – not only have I heard of him, I met him several times. He lived at 1400 N Lake Shore Drive here in Chicago while working for Oprah.
That’s right – I really like him, one of the nice guys, I recall. Actually, I love Top Chef Masters – the collegiality between the chefs is really nice to see.
I like Chris C- he did compete for Iron Chef and has a cool show on Food Network.
Love Art Smith. He looks great after losing all the weight. Very difficult especially when he loves southern style foods.

Melissa is one who looks very different from her pics when she was younger. What Teresa supposedly said to Melissa about how it was a good thing she didn’t look like she used to look was a very mean thing to say… I would never say something like that to anyone… but I’ll say it here… Teresa was right. Not that she was ugly because she was far from it but she certainly wasn’t “hot.”
I don’t even know if it was Teresa trying to be mean but letting her know that having your appearance ripped apart is par for the course when you are a Bravo HW.
Melissa use to look very plain. Now she looks like a middle class call girl. That short shorts look she has been sporting on the show is really showing her true colors. She ain’t no lady! Maybe she should call Playboy? IMO.
Completely disagree. Melissa is and always was a very pretty girl. I really noticed it on the boat when she was wearing little makeup. Unfortunately, because she’s from Jersey, she wears too much makeup but she is a beautiful girl.

Really, really are you posting this nonsense. First you twit, a “production” company may do the filming but they are on the “payroll” of the Television station that owns the “rights” to the program. No random “production” company can film a program or franchise without the consent of the Company that owns the rights to the program, including the talent for that program if the talent is in a contract with the Company(ie Bravo). Ergo, Bravo is essentially the company “filming” the franchise since they own it 100%, and they “employ/pay” a production company to do the actual filming. Oh, and for good merit, Bravo is then provided with all footage, no footage can be held by the production company as it the sole rights of the Company or they would be sued, and if caught would not be in business any longer since no one would hire them again. The Company then may employ or outsource an editing company or may have inside staff for the editing of the program to be presented at a later date on the Station owned by the company.

I think if that is the case then it HAS to have to do with them reading the blogs and especially this one and noting all the attention the DC ladies still get and how many of us liked them and found their relative sanity refreshing. On the other hand, oh how I WISH they could just drop the obvious kookoos like Michaele, Taylor, and KKB, the moment it’s obvious they’ve gone round the bend. There is NO reason ever to inflict McHell on the public ever again…and Taylor should be somewhere hiding her head in shame. I think I’m done with Kim “rude to her mother” Zodiak. I thought Kim’s behavior was horrible. Who the hell does she think she is? Kim lied to her mother about the food tasting and then gets pissy because her mother is upset about it? Yelling about her mother not paying for the wedding so that means her mother can’t invite anyone? Pointing out her mother couldn’t afford to buy her own dress?

I agree, I think the younger one is a sweetheart who is always eager to please.
The oldest one isn’t even that bad, she is probably just what a typical teenage daughter is…the source of a lot of gray hairs. Given what Kim was probably up to at her age considering the path she went down she is an angel compared to what her mother was.
I think the younger daughter is very sweet too. Her older daughter is turning into a real looker, and I have a feeling she might be a hellraiser like Kim.
Kim is a pathological liar. She is not comfortable with the fact that her parents are not rich. She has spent her life hunting for wealth and does not care to provide any to her parents. In my life, most liars I have dealt with do not like to be caught in a lie. It makes them angry.
Also I have noticed that Kim does not want to clean up her own messes. If she has a problem with someone, she wants someone else to handle it. She had an issue with her mother, so she gets daddy to confront and admonish, she also used Kroy to attack the mother because of the lie Kim and Kroy told together. Also Kroy had to rudely confront the maid of honor. I am starting to think the Kroy does not know what true love is. Karma is a cruel thing when you don’t see it coming. IMO.
There has to be something seriously wrong with Kroy that we don’t see. it’s the only thing that explains him being with Kim. Kim is gross, really gross. Chain smoking, wine swilling wig wearing, tacky, lazy, proud to be a whore, fat…on and on and on. He loves her bubbly personality? He could find a decent, non gross woman with a great personality but he chose KIM. Hate to say it, but I bet money that in 8years, he dumps Kim for Brielle. He’s just 11 years older than her.

And sense you brought it up, not one of these children signed a contract, their horrible parents did, and you know it. Picking on children is never right and you should know better. Two wrong will never make a right. I do understand T-REX, being a some one that has survived child neglect and severe abuse makes me more to see things from the child’s point of view. Onto Kathy, I am not feeling this show. Her theme song makes me want to change the channel IMMEDIATELY! I used to watch her stand up and enjoyed her shows. She would be the type of person who would laugh if you slipped on ice and fell on your bum.

I feel the same way, but usually keep it to myself since so many think she’s hilarious. Why, I don’t know.
I think she is a good story teller but when she gets all preachy political, it really puts me off. Even if we had the same views, if I want politics mixed with comedy I would pick someone else. She needs to stick to ripping on celebrities and kibitzing with her mom. I think Kim’s mother has ALOT in common with Bernadette. She is way more subtle, but there are huge Ishoos with that one. The only people I have ever seen whose faces look like hers are either anorexic, exercise bullimic or have cancer and I’m sure we’d know if she has cancer. Kim is very, very lucky that her father does not cover for her mother but instead agreed with Kim that the mother’s behavior was inappropriate, and validated that she deserved an apology. My radar goes off so much on that family that I won’t even go into what I think the other issues are…it seems like a big mess to me.
I do not get how Kim is lucky to have all these people doing her dirty work and cleaning up her messes. She needs to grow up and take care of herself. She and Kroy bold faced lied to Kim’s mother and expected her to except it like a slave, they also tattled to her father giving a half story to get his compliance. IMO, Kim’s father is a dumb a$$ that lets Kim get away with all sorts of negative behavior, for reasons only creep would care to know. I agree there seem to be some dark family secrets that the Zolciak family are all very ashamed and aware of. IMHO.

Dr Phil had or will have a pro anorexic person on so I looked up his website. Some of the tips seem helpful although I’m just dieting rather than going anorexic. Some tips were so stupid I deleted them. I’m not sure about #2. I thought a fellow dieter might find a useful tip here.
TIPS:
1. WATER…I can’t say it enough…WaterWaterWaterWater Water…Any questions?
2. Three words: Crest White Strips. Here’s the deal. You’re supposed to wear these on your upper and lower teeth for 30 minutes each, 2x a day. And you definitely cannot eat while you’ve got these babies on. You can have up to 2 hours a day of literally not being able to eat!
3. Ride out the hour. When you start to get hungry, just tell yourself that you’ll wait until the end of the hour to eat anything. That way you’ll have time to think about whether or not you really want those calories, and you’ll also feel really powerful since you’ve proved to yourself that you can go for that time without food.
4. Move around. Bounce your feet, wiggle your fingers, every little calorie counts.
6. Pick a time every night that you will not eat after. Most people recommend that you not eat after 6 PM, but if your family makes you sit down with them at 6:30 or so, this obviously isn’t practical. So choose a time that works for you.
9. Exercise before you eat. It will give you more time to think over what you really want to eat, and when you do eat you’ll be more comfortable with it since you just burned some calories.
10. Get your sleep. Not sleeping will slow down your metabolism and will make you more likely to over-eat.
11. Buy clothes one size smaller than what you’re currently wearing. Try on these clothes on to keep yourself on track.
15. Focus on what you’re eating for the first few bites. After that it gets pretty boring, don’t you think?
16. Work on your posture. When you sit and stand up straight you look taller AND thinner. You also burn more calories.
17. Leave traces of food that you would have eaten. (I’m changing this part to Dolly Pardon’s story of leaving some food on her plate for the angels when she dieted)
19. Do something you enjoy instead of eating. Take a bath, play with a pet, read a book, exercise, do whatever works for you.
20. Peppermints supposedly curb your appetite. But be careful with this…Each peppermint has 20 calories. (I’m adding that Ross from Biggest Loser said he’d pop a tictack right after eating)
A few of my tips:
- Eat every 4 hours – keeps your metabolism at a steady burn
- Balance your meal – whatever proportion you’re following daily in carbs, fat, protein, try to maintain that proportion in each meal
- Eat at least 4 meals a day, preferably 5
- Do cardio exercise for 3 minutes 3 times a week. Lifts your mood and feeds your metabolism. Start out w/just a brisk walk and then try to work in some short intervals of jogging. Wear a sports bra!!! Keeping the girls reined in makes the running so much more comfortable. Enell is a good source for sports bras for us women w/the larger breasts.
- Get good shoes for walking and running – you’ll avoid injuries. Wear arch supports, if needed.
- Use knee braces or ankle supports, if needed. Get out there and move, but don’t injure yourself.
- Exercise and diet w/a buddy – it’s nice to have some support and company and encouragement as you go through the journey.
- Do it for you!!! You’ll extend your life and enjoy the life you have now so much more.
My hubby and I have each lost over 55 lbs now – feels so good!
Correction: Cardio for 30 minutes, 3x a week

I’m over the bullshit vote counts on shows like American Idol so I hope, this isn’t just another. Someone said above that it’s the Cute that wins, not the talent. I don’t see the Cute, nor do I see the real talent, that makes them better than the rest, in the winners but, I’m a 48 year old man so I don’t find characters like Phillip Phillips particularly cute
Maybe a show like Duets can set the stage for a freshening up of the other shows.

I don’t think Phillip Phillips is that cute myself but the tween girls are the ones that vote, vote, and vote some more. I just can see no other reason why some of these guys win. Chris Allen over Adam Lambert??? Please… that’s the only thing that made sense to me. Same thing with Lee whatshisname. I remember liking the girl much better. I think many of them this year were better than Phillips.

I don’t invest in any metals, gold is a favorite for some but from what I’m reading/listening to on the business sites, it may fall further. I prefer good mutual funds and a balanced portfolio over buying any particular metals/funds/ETFs that are metal specific. Check out CNBC.com for more info.

OK looking at the chart, the P/E ratio & earnings per share it looks like a “stay the he** away from this one” kind of company. You can click on the “Earnings” bar to get a look at what past quarters did & what projections are. Here’s something interesting, in the next 3 – 5 years the growth is projected to be 32.4 %. So it’s very speculative….maybe keep a watch on it. You can click on “Financials” for the balance sheet. I don’t like it, not enough cash and too many liabilities….this is not a company I would invest in. There are better companies out there, also with good growth rates. Visa (symbol V) is worth looking into, especially on market pullbacks.
Have you heard of Marc Faber? He’s the “boom/doom & gloom” guy but it’s always worth listening to what he has to say. He has called a number of market downturns correctly. He said on CNBC today (you can listen to him at CNBC.com) we will have a recession in the 4th quarter and into 2013. Totally agree with him….too many financial & budget shenanigans going on in the world right now that we need to ride out. Faber recommends staying in cash, at least 25% & that’s in US dollars. Good advice, then you can take care of the market pullbacks to come with your cash….buy good companies (or mutual funds) with long successful track records. Blue chip stocks, look them up. Go in gradually, build your positions for the long haul. I like the Warren Buffet style of investing. I don’t sell everything – ever – just because of what someone predicts. So 75% of what I have invested will stay that way, in bonds, mutual funds, municipal bonds, a few select stocks, lots of cash (you need your emergency fund to be in cash) and of course real estate (the house you live in). No shorts, no puts no calls – if that’s your interest try a casino. I’ve never wasted money in casino….but that’s just me.
Anyone looking to be financially successful long term, first take care of the essentials. Pay off all your debts, never carry credit card balances, have an emergency fund in cash, plus extra. For me, the emergency fund is way more than 3 months. At least a year or 2, more makes me feel safe. Always budget something for saving for your retirement, it’s never too early. If you can, buy a condo or house but always put down a big portion, 20 % or more. Don’t buy if you aren’t going to live there for 10 years. Plan to stay for 30 years. No I’m not kidding….real estate can turn out to be your riskiest investment. In fact, never consider your primary residence as an investment. Just live in the least expensive way possible, well below your means. Renting is better if you are going to move in the next 3 to even 5 years. After that take care of your children, for college. Get your children off to a good start, teach them to save at least half of the money they receive. And to give to charity, which can be done by volunteering – way better than making cash donations, IMHO. Okay now that you are financially fit, you can start an investment fund. Here again be super conservative. Always stay 25% in cash. Invest in a mix of mutual funds or municipal bonds before risking money on individual stocks. I would never risk more than 25% of your investment fund (actually I think it’s like 10% or less for me) on stocks. Because it’s very hard to make money on stocks, long term. Keep your expectations low – and know that even if you are only making 3 to 5 % that is so much better than losing.
I’m in my 50s now. Back in my 20′s I didn’t save all that much, but I’ve always been a good saver – always tried to save 50%. Never bought anything full price, and I love auctions and stores that sell used stuff especially antiques. Garage sales can be sources of amazing bargains. If you are starting out, you can furnish an apartment creatively and for very little money. Never buy on credit. The one exception to that rule is a car, best to buy a 2 year old car & never more than you can afford.
My husband & I always worked hard, but we took vacations. Every time he had a business trip, I used to go with him. That was a great way to see the world, back in our 30s. The one big regret I have is buying homes that are well, too big! Now that I’m older it’s too much taking care of a big house. Not planning to sell until we retire…our house is paid off & there’s no reason to move just yet. Looking forward to that condo on one level, hopefully with a great view.
One last idea, I’ve been thinking a lot about it. How can you know your kid will go to college? Instead of a college savings plan, how about municipal bonds & stock mutual funds. Now if your kid goes to college, you have the money to help them. Plus they can finance their own education (it’s a great learning experience if they do) by a combination of qualifying for grants/scholarships (if they are living independent from you, your income doesn’t factor in) and working a job while they go to college. Of course, don’t get into huge debt by borrowing all the money for college. Some kids are graduating with $250,000 in loans and no job. That’s terrible….and foolish.
Let’s say your kid(s) don’t go to college. If they show initiative & get a job they could also benefit from your savings. You could buy a Dunkin’ Donuts together, or some other business venture. Just don’t do it all for them. They learn more from struggling on their own than you giving them everything outright. Plus if you have always lived frugally, they have no clue how wealthy you are.

Hey Bev enjoy that time down there at the beach, should be some hot weather on Monday. YoungBlue is nursing a cut to his lip. He was playing basketball & got an elbow to the lip. 12 stitches, he is so swollen it looks really bad. Even worse than the pic he posted on Facebook. The swelling should be down about the time he goes back to school. Luckily prom is in 2 weeks….whew! I’ll post pictures. He is going with a nice girl (a friend this time) & then watch out PA these crazy Jersey kidz are going to rent a house for the weekend. 3 brave moms are going to stay in a nearby hotel – I guess to make sure they stay out of (too) much trouble
These are all really great tips, BlueSky. Great advice and a very wise approach to money management. Much of it is guidance I’ve been passing to my son and stepdaughters in recent years.
Thanks Lady C, our best teachers are usually our parents when it comes to finance. My dad was amazing, most of what I have learned was from him. He drove the same car for 25 years – changed the engine 3 times!, a GM Matador…yellow as tweetie pie. He was color blind, so yellow was the only color he could see.
My dad was a pharmacist, took over Grandpa’s pharmacy. He never made a big salary. Yet he put 4 kids thru college, left us a pretty good trust fund & my mom is very secure due to his investing. We don’t have to worry about her. My brother has been doing ok with the trust fund investments. One quarter of it is the house my dad bought in the 1960s. Mom has added on to it, re done everything and you know what, I might just retire there. I’m not relying on any of that future inheritance – I just might pass before we get it, you never know.
My husband started out with nothing, just our college degrees and a willingness to work. The portfolio I manage is close to 2 million. But don’t tell our son that. I like him to think we are going broke, so he will make his own way. Nope we didn’t inherit it, every penny was earned. Believe it or not, I’ve lost a lot of money along the way, back when my husband had more authority. We had about 5,000 shares of that crap Lucent. I begged him to sell when it was in the 70s, and all the way down. I can remember my brother calling me to sell when it was in the 40s….just so you know there was a learning curve & yup it was darn steep. By now we should have already retired, but life’s a journey. Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Forgot to mention life insurance. Always buy term never variable or “universal.” Now you can get quotes on the internet. Buy enough to cover your mortgage, or take care of your children. It’s really cheap right now. We don’t buy life insurance for me, just my husband. When we are retired, no need to have it. For extremely wealth people, you can use life insurance to pass money on to your heirs. No tax on life insurance. But that could change. Oh, another thing, research a lot about the place you are going to retire. So much difference between states on inheritance taxes, health benefits (even medicare), tax on retirement benefits, etc. Or be like me, I’m not going to worry about any of that. Just live out my life where I want to, and on a budget that still lets me have some fun.
If you ever saw me, you would laugh. I don’t buy designer anything…ever. Most of the time I wear gym gear. Never waste money on Starbucks, getting nails done or fancy shoes.
You would be amazed what the US govt. sells at auction. Seized items: cars, jewelry, rolex watches, even mansions. I don’t like the idea of wearing some crook’s jewelry or living in a mansion built with illicit drug profits. But it is fascinating…think about RHONJ and how they could get all their stuff really cheap, including Bentleys, rolex watches & even houses.

Yes, I agree with all of your tips and I have one more to add–USE COUPONS!!!!! I have saved thousands of dollars over the years by comparison shopping (groceries) and weighing the savings over generic and store brands. I’ve known more than one person who has laughed at me for using coupons and acted as though it was something to be embarassed about. One of them is on FOODSTAMPS right now.
Yeah that’s me too, always buying what’s on sale at the grocery store, & then trying to use coupons on top of that. Years ago I used to send in the UPC codes & receipt for cash back offers. Did pretty well, back when my husband & I were living in campus housing with all hand me down furniture, rugs from Goodwill and of course hanging out the laundry to dry. Rode my bike to work to save money too, good times. We were so happy back then, poor but very happy
I buy the best car I can afford and then I drive it until it will drive no more. I’ve only owned 3 cars since I was 16 – just turning 50. One was handed down to me from my mom and this last one, I believe I’ll be driving for another 3 or 4 years.
The other thing that is SO important is home maintenance – you absolutely have to protect the value of our home. And making smart decisions about where to spend on your home is extremely important.
So true. Keep the roof, gutters, lawn, furnace/ac etc in good shape. Spending lots of money doesn’t always mean you get it back when you sell the house. I used to be a realtor, so it’s better to use neutral tiles, granite, flooring etc. then make the color statement with things like curtains, pillows, rugs but tone it down when you put the house on the market. One of my friends put dark ceramic tile everywhere, instead of safe neutral beige. Buyers just hated it!

My father always told me to stay away from gold, so other than having a few coins, that’s what I’ve done. He was a doctor though, and usually aren’t the smartest in investments, but he enjoyed the hunt, so to speak.

The idea of being able to help people with dry type Macular Degeneration is so thrilling to me. It’s a first for me in penny stocks, (scary), but Im hoping for good news for those suffering with the disease and so decided to invest just a bit. It has been fun to watch, but with 3 people in large eye institutes being injected and studied, I am hoping for the best for them and all with the disease. No side effects yet. Phase 1-2. They have also patented, thru out the world, their type of stem cell that a doesn’t come from embryos to be used in other applications, so no political controversy.
It is fun and exciting, but not investing our life’s earnings into it.

anymore for college I tell people I know to go and get a degree where they can make a living wage like surgical tech, RN, medical coding or assistant, whatever whatever, and put themselves through ‘university’ on their own without taking loans, even if it takes ten years. I have a sister and sister in law saddled with 50k in student loans because they took out the max because when you are young and stupid that’s what people do. My sister is 44 and just keeps deferring her loans, she used to go for computer certifications and keep them deferred by they NEVER go away, she only has a bachelors in history btw…
I had a partial scholarship to college and that was with a B average. I would tell people to either make their kids get scholarships or go for a technical or medical degree, unless you are going for a doctorate or JD or advanced degrees in science/tech I think liberal arts college is such a bad investment these days
I was reading a news article about how something like 80% of college/university grads don’t work in their field. The interviewed a someone working at starbucks with a degree in creative writing.
I’m not sure what he expected.

Tragic when your family doesn’t love, encourage & make you feel good. So easy to tear someone down, and when you see the parents do it to their own children (Jac & Caroline) it is awful.
Physical abuse (spanking) and verbal abuse just make a child feel worthless & that violence is ok. Both have been shown to leave terrible emotional scars in children. Read how to give time outs to your toddlers, and then how to be a good parent…I did. It also helped to be in a play group with some really terrific moms. I learned from all of them. My dad was spanked by his parents, he ran away from home several times before he was 5. They were verbally abusive to him, and he used that because I guess he really didn’t know any better. We were never hit. It was hard for me not to be verbally abusive (to my son), but I try very hard not to be. Also to be positive, not negative is important. Realize what you are saying before getting on the downer express.

Another curious question out there, I know I have seen some references to other Vegetarians here, but curious as to how many are here on the boards. This T-Rex is an Herbivore and a Vegetarian for many years.
I’m mostly vegetarian. I saw a story on horse meat being a European delicacy and how Americans are against it but really I don’t see it being different than killing cows or chickens. And there are many horses that don’t have good lives if the herd can’t be thinned out. It’s just a sad fact.

Awesome! I think if I would have had more options I would have been vegetarian by the time I was in high school. My parents were great, it’s just there wasn’t a lot of options or information out there when I was a kid. The internet helped me out a lot to be able to become and stay a vegetarian with all of the really useful recipes, tips and information.
It’s been exciting learning about good nutrition on a vegetarian diet with her! And we’re starting to explore more ethnic cuisine – it’s been a good thing to connect over.
I’m eating less and less meat. It’s kinda hard because my bf has no interest in being a vegetarian and I cook for us. But I’m quite sure I’ll give up meat completely in the not so distant future. One thing I could never be though is a vegan ’cause I love cheese. Giving up meat is one thing, but don’t touch my cheese.
I am vegan, T-Rex. I have never liked meat since I was very, very young so I’ve basically been vegetarian since I was 5. Although I do like dairy, I refrain for health and moral reasons, but you can find vegan alternatives for any dairy product. I also limit gluten and yeast because they wreak havoc on my body and limit sugar because it’s just plain bad, but it’s hard to be perfect in that area. Sugar is one of the worst foods you can consume, but the world makes it so hard…it’s in everything…even “health” foods.
I’ve been vegan for a long time so if you ever have questions, I might have the answers. I pride myself on not being judgmental of those who don’t have the same beliefs in that area because it’s just not necessary, but on the other hand, I could talk about it for hours because I just love the miraculous things food can do to our bodies.
I have to wonder if Jen is jealous of Kim? Kim has everything going for her: house, man and a spot on HW’s/her own temp show. I see Kim’s point but from experience the only one who is excited about your wedding is you. Don’t expect much from anyone else aside from children and of course the groom!
Onto missed shows. I’m really behind on many of the shows and am slowly catching up.
Anyone watch Guiliana and Rancid? This past week a complete miss. Someone has to tell these people watching people shop for ANYTHING is boring as a viewer! I fastforwarded through majority of this episode. Though the launch of their restaurant was nice. I haven’t been there and don’t plan on it in my current circumstance. I hope they are doing well in this economy.
Job news: Both my DH and I had interviews and both went well *sigh* But no job yet. I’m hoping for the light at the end of the tunnel soon! It just would be nice to just not feel stressed out for one day! As always keep my DH and I in your prayers.
I think that if Kim wanted someone who was there to her beck and call she should have paid her friend Jen to take two months away from her job and then she could have perform all her duties as a MOH, particularly I think she did well, she went to choose the dresses with her, help her write her vows, help her with the shoes, has been there a lot of times, but she can’t be there “all” the time, she probably has a family of her own that she needs to take care of them.
Isn’t Sherre one of the maids of honor, why is she never around? What about Kim other friends?
Kim has balls, my MOH didn’t even show up for our rehearsal because she had a comedy improve class or even make an appearance at the dinner that followed.
My DH and most of my family was none to pleased with her, I was a bit miffed but at the end of the day, it didn’t really do any harm.
I think DBTFTW is All scripted, so that there is dramz. How hard is it to plan a wedding, get hitched blah blah blah…..lol not hard at all when other people are doing all the work.
You know what wasn’t scripted was the look on Kroy’s mothers face when she showed them the naked/painted pictures of her. I think her eyes blinked in morse code, my son is marring a whore.

I was wondering about this. I have never had a formal wedding or been in a wedding party so I did not know what to think about this. My feeling was Kim wanted someone like Sweetie to be at her beck and call. And Jen was thinking that well, Kim is an adult, she can handle things herself. Not only that but she has a husband, two daughters who aren’t crippled, and a mother not to mention countless friends around. And a personal assistant, and a stylist, and a wedding planner and half a dozen other people doing this and that for her.
To me Kim kind of acts like a bit of a queen. The spots with her girls are always a bit strange, she acts a bit more like she’s talkign to her subjects than kids. Jen has been friends with her for over a decade so she knows how Kim is too, it might be something you can only take in small doses.
I got the impression Kim just wanted her by her side. I have to say I’d be hurt if my maid of honor didn’t think to plan a shower and then not even who up at the shower I did have. I just can’t understand why there’s no communication between them. If Jen is too busy then tell Kim that… if Kim is hurt then tell Jen that. If Jen is telling Kim she is going to be a certain place, then doesn’t show, I can understand Kim being upset if it happens time after time. I can also understand if Jen has other things she has to do but why isn’t she telling Kim that? Or is Kim expecting her to be a mind reader? I’m just saying I can see both POVs depending on the circumstances.
I don’t know if she was jealous or not but we list the things that Kim has, she acquired most of her stuff from being a mistress and from being on the show, so why would then Jen want more time before the cameras.
I think Kim threw a wedding together at the last minute and thinks that everyone has to turn their life upside down because of it to accommodate her.
I don’t think Jen is jealous. From the little I saw of her on my t.v. screen, she seems like a sincere person and a good friend to Kim. Kim said that Jen hates the spotlight and enjoys being in the background. I think Kim also said that they’ve been friends for years. So, it’s not like Jen wants to hone in on Kim’s gig with RHOA or anything else that goes with it. I also think Jen is married and seems pretty stable. I doubt that she just, all of a sudden, developed jealousy.
She’s probably just busy trying to pay her bills and can’t afford to stop her life for a wedding that Kim decided to plan and throw at the last minute.

My mom has a cleaning lady in her late 60s (mom is 87) and her husband was a long haul trucker. His smoking caused him to have such severe leg problems with circulation that he had to stop working. After giving up smoking, and doing a lot of exercise, he’s now much better & able to work. His first job was something with customers service, it didn’t work out. Then amazingly he got another job, driving short trucking routes. I’m impressed that he got 2 jobs in his 60s, of course they don’t have children to support & the midwest is doing well right now. They live in small town NE Iowa where it’s cheap to live. Des Moines, IA is doing well too, a long with many areas in the midwest.
My husband recently has seen some work come in, after being idle for over 18 months. He is an electrical eng. contractor. It looks like the job market in the larger NYC area is improving. But it’s very expensive to live here.
So happy to hear your husband is finding work. I know my friends brother is an iron worker and moved out there temporary because he got work on building the new tower. I hope your DH can get some work doing the electrical.

The guys that are working on the new tower are fearless. I have great admiration for them.
He does research type work, computer engineering. Some of the work he did 20 years ago was optimizing packets sent over the internet, fault tolerance….as he explained it, improving the on & off ramps of the internet highway and getting you around traffic tie ups. He’s done work with the Dept. of Defense, with the robots they used to search buildings, then improve communications between the robots, the soldiers on the ground, the fighter pilots, etc all the way back to the head command post. He’s trying to do more primary research now, plus I suspect he just wanted to take time off for awhile, climb mountains….he just got back from an adventure climbing in Alaska. If there is something to assemble, I’m actually much better at it. He gets stumped, go figure
LOL I get it now. My FIL kind of does the same thing, he designs and builds communications filters.

I have been in 16 (Yes, I said SIXTEEN) weddings (starting as a flower girl, moving my way up to tea girl, to jr. bridesmaid, to full-fledged bridesmaid). I have spent a small fortune on bridesmaid’s gowns that I’ve never been able to wear again and on gifts, bridal showers, bridal teas, bachelorette parties, etc.
About 3 years ago, I told all my friends, “O.K. I’m DONE. I will no longer be in anybody’s wedding in a capacity other than reading at your wedding or handing out programs. I’ve spent a small fortune and 90% of those people aren’t even married anymore. I’ve spent tons of money on weddings, not to mention the time, energy and stress expended and I’ve never even been MARRIED!!!! From now on, if anybody wants to remain friends, you will NOT ask me to be in your wedding.”
It’s worked out great ever since I made that announcement!

I don’t know why but sometimes I envy my single friends. They can do what ever they want, live where ever they want, etc. without having to persuade someone else. When my husband & I first moved to NJ I was in shock. Told him maybe I could last 3 years. Well that was 1985…now I’m so used to it here it probably would be hard to leave.
Sometimes I envy my (happily) married friends.
And sometimes they envy me. It’s 6 one way, half a dozen another.
If I found the right person, I could see myself being happily coupled up. If I do NOT, then I’d rather remain happily single. I’m just goin’ with the flow…..

You are absolutely right about the dresses, I was a bridesmail in one wedding and we rented ours.
When I married the second time, (we included all children and grandchildren in the wedding party) his adult daughter stood up for him, we went shopping and we picked out a dress that she loved and could wear again.
LOL I picked out a dress for me that could be shortened to street length.
Home from work and a long week it was. Not complaining. Business is good. Looking forward to the wonderful 3 day weekend.
OT: Winds have picked up today and the Gladiator Fire is out of control. Wind gust up to 50 miles per hour. AZ is in for a long summer of wildfires. Temps have dropped so hopefully tonight the firefighters can get it under control.
That environment is so fragile and hard to get back too from what I hear. Best of luck to them putting it out.

My poor baby Cooper is going to not be getting his daily chicken jerky snacks and now I see milk bones are suspect as well. I went out today and bought chicken breast to try and use the recipe to make him homemade chicken jerky snacks. Now I gotta find a recipe for milk bones as well. I already cook him roast and chicken thighs every week. He eats better than I do already but nothing is too much for my love.

i would like to try them. My dog’s birthday is coming up 
Take approximately 4 1/2 cups chicken broth (make your own or buy canned) with some canned chicken meat or small shredded bits from the boiled chicken. Add a cup of rice; bring to a boil; reduce to simmer for approximately 45 minutes. Let the rice cool completely then add two eggs and incorporate well. If the rice mixture is too thin add some oatmeal to make the consistency that of a cookie batter. If the rice mixture is too thick, add some milk or water to achieve the consistency of a cookie batter. Then drop the batter by teaspoons full onto a baking sheet (just like cookies, but be sure to grease the baking sheet completely otherwise the treats WILL stick to the pan and you won’t want to use that pan again for regular cookies.)
Bake for 20 minutes at 425 then remove the baking sheet, flip the treats over and bake again for another 10 minutes. You may need more baking time or less depending on how crisp you want the treats to be (I like them to be crispy, but the dogs don’t really care if they get a “crunch” when they bite into them or not, just my preference.) I get approximately 6 dozen treats from this recipe. I store them in zip lock bags (the generic brand, of course) in the refrigerator. I don’t know how long they last before they go bad because my dogs always eat them up as quick as I let them. It takes some time to make these treats, but they’re safe, cheap, and dog-delish.
